Oslo international Women choir (OINKK) was funded to create a platform where women with and without migration background can meet and get to know each other. The choir is a meeting place where women from different countries and backgrounds sing together and create a social community.
OInKk had its first choir practice on November 21st 2017 and has since then been meeting once a week during the summer and winter semesters. The number of members is varying, more than 50 women from 25 different countries have shown up so far. Currently there are about 35 ladies coming regularly to the choir practices, representing countries like Afghanistan, Algeria, Costa Rica, Lebanon, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Kurdistan, Morocco, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Swaziland, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.
The Choir is open for everyone, there is no audition. Some of the members have experience from before, most have not. The joy of singing, companionship, courage and curiosity are the driving forces and let jumpiness crepitate and let us sing out loud.
Our song repertoire shall represent our members. We are singing songs from different countries in different languages which are arranged in three voices by our conductor.
If you are interested, come and see us! We meet each Tuesday at Forandringshuset Grønland at 5:30 pm. The adress is Grønlandsleiret 41.
